College Golf Guide
The PING American College Golf Guide—now online and interactive with Golfstat.
The new PING Guide is an online subscription publication for junior golfers who want to play college golf. Since 1989, almost 90% of the college golf scholarships nationwide have gone to readers of this guide.
The Guide includes comprehensive
information for more than 1,600 men's and women's 4-year and 2-year college golf programs, as well as contact information including telephone, addresses, e-mail and fax numbers for more than 1,600 coaches. One of the advantages of being an online publication is the ability to update information weekly instead of once a year. Detailed information is also included for international student-athletes.
The Guide answers the questions
facing college-bound students regarding both scholarship and non-scholarship golf programs. There is a step-by-step procedure along with a calendar of what students should do from their high-school freshman year through their senior year. It also contains sample introduction letters, recommendations on writing resumes and samples of letters to get the student recognized by college coaches.
The Guide explains the latest NCAA rules on recruiting, testing, eligibility and letters of intent. Advice is provided to help junior golfers and parents locate lesser-know golf programs that are searching for more players. The new online PING Guide includes several letters/messages from college golf coaches at all competitive levels to junior players and parents about the various opportunities for college and golf.
The Guide also gives complete scores
from more than 200 college conference championship tournaments plus scores of regional and national college golf championships. These scores (compiled by Golfstat) give high school players an idea of the level of competition at various schools and conferences throughout the nation. Golfstat provides the software used in scoring every 4-year college golf tournament.
The PING Guide/Golfstat interactive scoring program
has created much "buzz" among the college coaches, because it converts junior golfers' tournament scores to college scores with the click of the mouse and displays right on their computer screen how juniors would place in actual college tournaments. This Interactive Score Conversion (ISC) is a great program to help junior players and their parents determine where they fit into the college game as the junior tournament scores are "adjusted" to the difficulty of the college courses.
The new expanded PING Guide/Golfstat program
allows subscribers to access every tournament played by a particular school to run this new Interactive Score Conversion (ISC) program. This gives Expanded program members access to more than 1,600 college tournaments for ISC. Tournaments and scores are updated annually.
The Expanded PING Guide/Golfstat program also has a search program to help students find possible college matches based on several search criteria including: division, state, public or private institution, men's or women's program, scholarship or non-scholarship, SAT/ACT scores, school have own golf course, major fields of study and more.
"You do not need to be a scratch golfer to play or earn a scholarship. All you need is a strong desire to attend college and play golf while you are there."
The PING Guide has been published since 1989 by Dean Frischknecht Publishing with PING sponsorship.
